Desperados Under The Eaves – Warren Zevon and Jackson Browne
This is probably my favourite Warren Zevon song and this is the best version I have heard of it. The orchestrated album version is very good but this has a more real live feel. Recorded in 1976 with Jackson Browne and a sparse piano accompaniment. The portrayal of a mind on the edge hearing hymns in the air-conditioning hum is a moment of genius. Warren Zevon died in 2003 but left us marvellous songs that will go on being great for all time.

Warren Zevon – Hit Somebody – The Hockey Song. Live December 2, 2000 from the Theater of the Living Arts, Philadelphia PA. Certainly the funniest song about hockey ever written. Of course it’s only alegorically about hockey. It’s really about not “remembering your role” but instead seeking that “flashing red light”…whatever that might be for you. That’s why Buddy is perhaps Warren Zevon’s greatest hero ever. Hope you enjoy.
